ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal minister for finance Ishaq Dar has urged the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to assist Pakistan in the construction of Diamer-Bhasha dam as solving energy crisis is priority of the government.
In a meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday with the ADB President Takehiko Nakao, who is on a three-day visit to Pakistan, the minister said that the World Bank is going to hold a Business Opportunity Conference in Washington on October 8 and we are going to discuss Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project in the conference.
The finance minister said that Pakistan also wants to proceed with the projects of TAPI and CASA 1000 for fulfilling the energy needs of the country in near future. He said that the Bank also supports TAPI which is an important project for Pakistan.
Ishaq Dar said that Diamer-Bhasha is also an important project for managing water resources in Pakistan and the Bank would help to the extent possible.
As far as the rehabilitation of IDPs is concerned it would extend expertise for the reconstruction work, he said.
