ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to step forward as the voice of Muslim Ummah on the Palestinian issue.
In a meeting with the OIC delegation headed by Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani in Islamabad, the prime minister desired that the OIC not only voice the outrage of the Ummah but also take concrete measures to help in resolution of the present political and humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
The prime minister also said that Pakistan is prepared to assist the OIC and the Muslim Ummah in any way and at any time in the furtherance of these goals.
Sharif noted with deep concern the mounting death toll and said that it is a matter of deep concern that the dead included hundreds of women and children. He also noted the massive destruction of infrastructure caused by Israeli attacks which even did not spare schools and places of worship.
The OIC Secretary General shared the prime minister’s concerns and informed him of various measures the organization had taken to deal with the situation.
