Pakistan urges UN to play role in defusing LoC tension

NEW YORK: Pakistan has urged the United Nations to play its role for reduction of tension on the Line of Control (LoC) between the two neighboring countries.

In a meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon in New York on Saturday, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to United Nations Masood Khan apprised the secretary general about the situation on the LoC and the Working Boundary between Pakistan and India.

The Pakistani envoy urged the United Nations to play its role for reduction of tension on the LoC.

The Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam in her weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Friday urged the Indian side to sit on dialogue table and discuss bilateral disputes including Kashmir with Pakistan.

The spokesperson said that 12 Pakistani citizens were martyred while another 52 injured due to unprovoked Indian firing on the LoC.

Tasneem Aslam said that the international community also expressed its reservations on escalation on the LoC and Working Boundary.
