RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Commander United States Central Command (CENTCOM) General Lloyd J. Austin called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that during the meeting between the COAS and the US CENTCOM Commander, matters of mutual interest and regional security were discussed.
The ISPR said that US CENTCOM Commander acknowledged Pakistan army’s efforts and sacrifices rendered during the war against terrorism to bring peace in Pakistan and the region.
General Lloyd Austin also paid homage to army martyrs and laid a floral wreath at martyrs’ monument.
Earlier, the Commander US CENTCOM also held a meeting with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood in Rawalpindi and discussed matters related to mutual interest.
During the meeting, General Lloyd Austin acknowledged the role played by the Pakistan armed forces in fighting the menace of terrorism, according to the ISPR.
