ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi on Thursday said that Pakistan wanted meaningful and constructive engagement with Afghanistan to ensure peace and stability in the war-torn Country.
Fatemi made these remarks in a meeting with the British Ambassador to Afghanistan Dominic Jermey who accompanied by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew called on him in Islamabad and discussed the peace and security situation in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, the special assistant said that Pakistan looked forward to meaningful and constructive engagement with Afghanistan on issues of common concern with a view to promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The two top British diplomats also met Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and National Security Advisor Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua on Wednesday and discussed Pakistan-United Kingdom relations and issues especially related to Afghan reconciliation process.
