ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Water &Â Power and Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Pakistan highly values its relations with Turkmenistan and wants to enhance the relations between the two countries.
Talking to the Ambassador of Turkmenistan Atadjan Movlamov who called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday and discussed areas of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, trade and defense, the minister said that Pakistan and Turkmenistan being brotherly countries are enjoying closed cordial relations in different fields. He hoped that cooperation in the fields of energy and defense would further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
Highlighting the importance of China-Pakistan Economic corridor (CPEC) Project, the minister said that CPEC is the most important artery in the region and stressed that all the regional countries should make their planning to get maximum benefit from it.
Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan will play its positive role to bring peace in the region by fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The defense minister further said that the economy of Pakistan is progressing and initiatives taken by the present democratic government are friendly for the international community to invest in Pakistan especially in energy and infrastructure development.
Mutual trade and people to people contact may be increased for strengthening of bilateral relations he added.
The Turkmenistan’s envoy while appreciating the forward looking steps being taken by the government of Pakistan and Ministry of Water & Power for the development of energy sector, assured their cooperation for enhancing bilateral engagement between the two countries in the energy, economic and defense spheres.
