ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan wants to expand its bilateral relations with Azerbaijan in the field of defence and energy.
In a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Alizada in Islamabad on Friday during which they discussed matters relating to energy and enhancement of bilateral trade between the two countries, the minister said that Pakistan values its relationship with Azerbaijan.
Ishaq Dar said that both Pakistan and Azerbaijan have love and affection for each other. He appreciated the hospitality and warmth of the people and President of Azerbaijan during his visit last year.
The minister said the volume of trade between the two countries can go up manifold.
The finance minister also expressed satisfaction over the ongoing negotiations between two countries especially in the field of energy and bilateral trade.
The Azerbaijan’s envoy said that Pakistan is a strong and important country, and Azerbaijan gives importance to relationship with Pakistan.
The ambassador said that Azerbaijan is interested in textile import and energy projects with Pakistan. In response, the finance minister assured facilitation and cooperation for the trade.
The envoy also appreciated Pakistan’s supportive role at multilateral fore.
The meeting was also attended by senior officers of Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs Division.
