ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Security Adviser Lt General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua on Friday said Pakistan had always played a positive role for peace and stability of the region, and would continue to play a constructive and balanced role in the future as well.
In a meeting with the Iranian ambassador Mehdi Honardost in Islamabad, the envoy said Iran was their brotherly Muslim neighbouring Country to which Pakistan had always extended a friendly hand and was keen to strengthen those ties in the future.
During the meeting, besides matters of mutual interest, prospects of future cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in different areas were discussed.
The Iranian envoy expressed satisfaction over the frequency of high level bilateral visits which were paving the way for improvement of relationship. He said mutual cooperation was the only way to achieve sustainable peace in the region.
Discussing the importance of strengthening economic ties, the envoy stressed on the importance of formal banking sector and also requested to eliminate impediments in that regard.
The two sides agreed that broader understanding of each other’s stance regarding the key regional developments could consolidate Pak-Iran relations and could pave ways to enhance bilateral engagements further.
They also agreed that Pakistan and Iran had a great future.
“The most valuable part of Pak-Iran relations is the mutual feeling based on common history, faith and values among the people of both the Countries” Mehdi Honardost said.
