Pakistan will continue to work with new Afghan govt for regional peace: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Tuesday that Pakistan will continue to work closely with the new Afghan government for establishing lasting peace in the region.

The interior minister made these remarks in a meeting with the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Pakistan Philip Barton in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they discussed overall security situation in the region with particular reference to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Afghanistan.

Nisar expressed the hope that the government’s dialogue policy will bring durable peace to the region especially in FATA. He said that the government is trying to expedite the dialogue process.

Talking about relations between Pakistan and the UK, the minister said that decades-old political and economic relations between the two countries have flowered into special relationship.

The interior minister praised the institutional support of the UK in capacity building of civil armed forces of Pakistan.

The UK High Commissioner appreciated the government’s commitment to put Pakistan on the road to peace and development. He also lauded the recently-announced National Internal Security Policy.
