ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A high-powered broadly representative parliamentary delegation led by the Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has reached Kabul, the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan Dr Omar Zakhilwal said on Saturday.

In a series of tweets, the Afghan ambassador said that this is first time in many years that a delegation of this nature has visited Kabul to get involved directly in Afghanistan-Pakistan bilateral relations.

The Afghan said that the Pakistani delegation will have substantial discussions with the Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani and other key leadership on issues that have caused mistrust and distance between the two Countries.

‏Dr Omar Zakhilwal said that the discussion between the two sides would be forward looking with aim to find a path to improved bilateral relations with responding to our grievances and perceptions.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Afghan president had asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to send its parliamentary delegation to Afghanistan to ease tension between the two neighbours.

Subsequently, the prime minister formed a parliamentary delegation with the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq as its head to undertake a three-day visit to Kabul from April 29.
