Baku, Azerbaijan: The Embassy of Pakistan in Azerbaijan has repatriated 127 Pakistani passengers who were stranded in Baku due to cancellation of commercial flights after Coronavirus compelled cancellation of international as well as domestic flights.
127 Pakistanis were sent back home tonight through a special flight to Islamabad. Pakistani Embassy has taken care of all Pakistanis stranded in Baku after commercial flights were suspended on March 23 due to Coronavirus pandemic.
Talking to Dispatch News Desk (DND) News Agency, passengers said that Embassy of Pakistan in Azerbaijan not only planned their travel back to home rather paid hotel expenses for them because they were short of money due to unexpected long stay in a foreign country.
One stranded girl Shabana said to DND that she came with her brother to enjoy travel to Baku but they were stuck due to cancellation of flights. She stated that she contacted Embassy of Pakistan in Baku Azerbaijan which took care of them like a mother and they were provided finances for their longer stay and government also arranged their flight back to Islamabad through special PIA flight.
Another group while talking to DND said that they were obliged to Ambassador of Pakistan in Azerbaijan Dr Saeed Khan Mohmand, his staff and government of Pakistan for excellent help they got as a great rescue from un uncontrollable and unavoidable circumstances they had been facing due to cancellations of flights after Coronavirus broke out all over the world.
They stated that Embassy looked after them at every level including bearing the cost of their over stay in hotels.
It is pertinent to mention that Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qurashi under the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan is ensuring evacuation of Pakistanis stranded anywhere in the world due to cancellation of commercial flights. The National Carrier Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC) is providing excellent support by flying in and out to rescue Pakistanis all over the world.
