RAWALPINDI: The military on Friday reassured the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that army would provide all possible assistance to the Commission for peaceful conduct of elections scheduled to be held on May 11, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
In a meeting held at General Headquarters Rawalpindi on Friday between Secretary Commission Ishtiaq Ahmed and military authorities, various issues relating to provision of security during the upcoming elections came into consideration.
Meanwhile, the Secretary ECP shared with military authorities initial details of sensitive areas and polling stations entailing security.
It was decided to hold another meeting in the next couple of weeks after ECP has worked out all details of security requirement across the country to be able to evolve a comprehensive security plan.
