ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday rejected names submitted by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to further investigate the Panama allegations.

The three-member Special Supreme Court Bench formed for implementation of Panama Case asked the Governor SBP and the Chairman SECP to submit the list of their all 18-grade or above officers before 11:30 am on Thursday.

The bench said that submitted names by the State Bank and the SECP were not neutral, and also warned the institutions against playing any game with the Supreme Court. The bench said that it would decide the officials for the JIT instead of institutions’ heads.

Meanwhile, the bench adjourned the hearing till 11:30 am on Friday.

Earlier the bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and comprising Justice Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan began hearing the Case in Islamabad on Wednesday.Panama JIT

The Special Supreme Court bench had been constituted on Tuesday by the Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to ensure implementation of the verdict in Panama Papers case and monitor working of the JIT.

The Chief Justice had also approved appointment of the Additional Registrar Muhammad Ali as the Coordinator between the JIT and the Supreme Court bench on the Case.
