ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The most-awaited verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Panama Papers Case involving Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members regarding to their investments in Offshore Companies will be announced on Thursday.
The five-member bench of the Supreme Court will announce the verdict at 02:00 pm on April 20, as per the Supplementary Cause List issued by the apex court.
The five-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Ahsan had reserved its judgment over the Panamagate on February 23, 2017.
The verdict was reserved following the 26th hearing of the Panama Case in the Supreme Court since a new bench to hear the Case had been constituted after Justice Saqib Nisar took over as the 25th Chief Justice of Pakistan in December 2016.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed had filed their separate petitions in the Supreme Court, seeking money trail from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with regards to four flats owned by his family in London.
In Panama Papers Case, Makhdoom Ali Khan was the Counsel of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while Shahid Hamid and Salman Akram Raja represented his Children including Marriyum Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz.
On the other hand, PTI was represented by Naeem Bukhari, JI by Tauseef Asif and Sheikh Rashid himself presented his arguments before the bench.
While reserving the verdict of the Panama Papers Case after counsels for the parties completed their lengthy arguments, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa had said that they would make a decision which would be remembered for years to come.
