ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for finance and revenue Ishaq Dar said on Monday that all the parliamentarians are paying tax as it is being deducted from their salaries directly, adding that tax details of all the parliamentarians will be made public by February 15.
In his address on the floor of the Senate, the finance minister said that the impression that parliamentarians are not paying tax is totally incorrect and ill conceived. He said that there is misunderstanding and an unnecessary debate is going on as to whether parliamentarians themselves pay their taxes.
The finance minister said that said this issue was also discussed in the Public Account Committee (PAC), adding that there were around 12 per cent parliamentarians who have not yet taken their National Tax Number (NTN).
Dar said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been directed to issue the NTN to all the parliamentarians by the end of January to avoid such misconception in future.
The minister said that the tax details of all the tax payers will also be made public within two months.
