LAHORE, Pakistan: A clash erupted between police and the workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in the Model Town area of Lahore on Friday evening.
It comes after the PAT workers removed barricades around Minhajul Quran Secretariat placed by the Punjab government as a security measure ahead of the PAT Youm-e-Shuda scheduled for August 10.
The reports said that the PAT workers pelted stones on the police while the police used tear gas against the PAT workers and also arrested three of them.
The policemen were injured in the clash who were shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatement.
The DIG operations said that the PAT workers resorted to violence first, adding that no workers have been arrested yet. He said that more contingents of police have been called and said that those who violated law will be punished.
Meanwhile, the PAT workers have reportedly seized control of a police bus and held policemen hostages inside the bus.
