ISLAMABAD: The coordinator of the government’s dialogue committee Irfan Siddiqui said on Friday that peace talks with the negotiating team nominated by the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have entered a decisive phase.
In an interview‚ Siddiqui said that issues like release of prisoners and withdrawal of army from specific areas will be decided in this phase. Besides, he said, groups carrying out violent activities during the ceasefire will be identified.
In reply to a question‚ Siddiqui said that army is a key stakeholder in the issue and the committee has suggested to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for its inclusion in the talks. He said that positive results cannot be achieved without the involvement of army
