Peace talks with Taliban has not yielded positive results so far: Aziz

ISLAMABAD: The prime minister’s advisor on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Thursday that the dialogue process with the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has not yielded positive results so far.

Talking to media representatives in Islamabad on Thursday, the advisor said that so far the militant hideouts have precisely been targeted in the North Waziristan tribal region.

National security policy: Operational part is of immense importance, says Aziz

The advisor said that the national security policy presented in the national assembly on Wednesday is related to country’s internal security.

On Wednesday, the federal interior minister while announcing the national policy for internal security in the lower house of the parliament said that three-pronged policy has been adopted to counter terrorism in the country. He said that the first part of the policy will be secret‚ second strategic and third operational.

The prime minister’s advisor said that the operational part of national security policy is of immense importance. He said that in next two weeks‚ the federal government will also present defense and international policy.

Pakistan’s arms will not be used in Syria: Aziz reiterates

In response to a question regarding a policy shift in relation to Syria, the advisor said that any reports relating to sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia for use in Syria is baseless and misleading. He reiterated that Pakistan’s arms will not be used in Syria.
