ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has assured that the perpetrators of the Dasu bus tragedy will be exposed and brought to justice.

Last Wednesday, 13 people including nine Chinese nationals, two Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel and two locals, were killed and 28 others sustained injuries when a coach carrying them to an under-construction tunnel site of the 4,300-megawatt Dasu hydropower project fell into a ravine in the Upper Kohistan area after an explosion.

While addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Saturday, the minister said that the investigation into the Dasu bus incident has reached the final stage.

The interior minister said that the highest security institutions of the Country are carrying out the investigation and a 15-member Chinese team is also involved in the process.

The minister said that the relevant institutions have also been directed to make the security of the Chinese people and projects more effective.

Sheikh Rashid said that the sordid designs of those elements which are against the CPEC and Pak-China friendship will be foiled.

The minister said that during the telephonic conversation with the Chinese Minister for Public Security Zhao Kezhi, he briefed him about the progress made so far into the bus incident investigation. He said that we also shared condolences over the death of 13 people including nine Chinese in the incident.

The interior minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to visit China.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said that Pakistan is proud of its all-weather friendship with China which is higher than the Himalayas.
