ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Ishaq Dar on Thursday night announced to keep the prices of petroleum products unchanged for the next fortnight from June 16 to June 30, 2023.
Earlier it was being expected that the federal government would announce a reduction in the price of petrol for the next 15 days.
Since April 2023, the price of Brent Crude oil has fallen in the international market and now stands at US$ 73.31 a barrel, down by 16.05% (US$ 87.33 on April 12, 2023).
However, the US dollar continues to show an upward trend against the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) as its value has risen by 0.76% in the Interbank Market. The dollar stood at Rs 284.97 on May 15 and it jumped to Rs 287.18 on June 14.Last time, the federal government had slashed the petrol price by Rs 8 per litre in addition to reducing High-Speed Diesel and Light Diesel Oil prices by Rs 05 per litre each.
The petrol price in Pakistan has been reduced to Rs 262 from Rs 282 since May 01, 2023.

Sources had earlier said that the government would most likely to announce further reduction in the petrol price tonight for the third consecutive time.
They had said that the petrol price might fall by Rs 3-5 per litre for the next fortnight; however, the prices of High-Speed Diesel and Kerosene Oil might witness an increase of Rs 5 and Rs 2.10 per litre respectively.
