PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday ordered the authorities concerned to block blasphemous material on social media.
A two-member bench of the provincial court issued notices to the interior ministry, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTI) and other authorities concerned, directing them to take immediate measures to block all the pages containing disputed material on social media.
The orders came over a petition filed by a local lawyer Arif Khan.
The PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan ordered them to submit their report within 20 days.
The chief justice observed that anti-Islam material on social media incite religious sentiments, which cause chaos in the society.
