ABBOTTABAD: The by-election in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly constituency PK-45 is underway on Thursday, wherein all arrangements have been finalised for this purpose.
The polling will continue till 5 pm without any break while 118,765 voters will use their right to vote in by-polls of PK-45 constituency.
The seat of PK-45 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s district Abbottabad fell vacant following the resignation of Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan after he was appointed governor of the province.
There are six candidates in the run including Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Saeed Abbasi, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Sardar Fareed Abbassi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Ali Asghar Khan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Akram Abbasi, Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Manzoor Mumtaz and Changez Abbasi of the PPP-Shaheed Bhutto.
In a statement, the PTI Chairman Imran Khan alleged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan is influencing the by-election in PK-45 constituency, and insisted that the PTI will win the election with a thumbing majority.
“People are with us and the PML-N is going to lose this seat on June 5 as people are fed up with the policies of the federal government,” Imran said.
The PTI leader asked party workers to be vigilant to curb rigging in the by-election. He said that if anyone is found to be casting fake ballots they will be put behind bars.
