BEIJING, China: Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Chinese President Xi Jinping held a meeting in Beijing on Wednesday and discussed the entire spectrum of Pakistan-China bilateral relations, regional situation and matters of mutual interests.

During the meeting, the prime minister thanked the Chinese president and the government for its principled stand on Kashmir issue. He particularly mentioned the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s stand on Kashmir issue at the United Nations General Assembly.

The prime minister said that everywhere you supported Pakistan in difficult times.

Imran Khan briefed the Chinese president about Pakistan’s present situation and said Pakistan has come out of difficult economic situation and we will never forget China’s financial cooperation in this regard. He said that China has never asked anything for its support against our national interest and helped us without any conditionality.

The prime minister said that China provided Pakistan an opportunity to come out of very difficult economic situation and appreciated the Chinese support under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.

In addition, the prime minister congratulated President Xi on the 70th anniversary of founding of People’s Republic of China.

The Chinese president lauded Prime Minister Imran Khan for speaking on China-Pakistan relations during the UN General Assembly’s Session. He said that both the Countries enjoyed close friendly relations and cooperated each other in different fields.

The prime minister was accompanied by the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister of Planning, Development and Reform Khusro Bakhtiar, the Minister of Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, the Adviser on Commerce Razak Dawood, the Special Assistant Nadeem Babar and the Chairman Board of Investment (BOI) Syed Zubair Haider Gillani.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed and other senior officials were also present during meeting.

The meeting was followed by a luncheon banquet hosted by President Xi Jinping in honour of Prime Minister Imran Khan
