ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has warned that if precautionary measures are not adopted during Eid-ul Azha and Muharram-ul Haram, the Country will witness another spike of Coronavirus Cases.
While addressing media on Monday, the prime minister said that in case of an increase in the Coronavirus Cases after Eid-ul Azha and Muharram, the government will have to impose lockdown again which will negatively affect the economy of the Country.
The prime minister appealed to the people to strictly observe standard operating procedures (SOPs) against COVID-19 during Eid and Muharram.
Imran Khan said that Pakistan is among the few Countries that have largely controlled the COVID-19 pandemic in a short period. He said that the deaths reported due to Coronavirus yesterday were the lowest in three months.
In addition, he said that with a continuous declining trend of Coronavirus Cases in the Country, the pressure on hospitals has reduced.
The prime minister said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was the first that adopted the policy of Smart Lockdown which proved successful, and that other Countries replicated this policy.
