ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Syed Shabbar Zaidi has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over a meeting with traders on January 20 at the PM House in Islamabad.
In a statement on Saturday, the Chairman FBR said that in the meeting, the prime minister will formally announce the concessions given to traders’ community and will seek assistance of trade bodies in complete documentation and tax contribution by the trading sector.
The Prime Minister has very graciously consented to preside a meeting with all Pakistan traders on 20th of January. The meeting will be held in PM house.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has brushed aside news appeared in a section of media that Syed Shabbar Zaidi has gone on a 15-day leave from January 6 to 19 over differences in policy issues, saying that any speculation in this regard will die down.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the government economic team is carrying out its responsibilities in full harmony. She said that the whole team is working in a splendid way and the whole economic team is enjoying complete confidence and support of Prime Minister Imran Khan
The Special Assistant said that the journey of economic team will continue towards the economic stability.
In a statement, the FBR also termed the news of Syed Shabbar Zaidi’s differences with the prime minister or the government economic team as baseless and misleading.
The statement said that the Chairman FBR is on a leave till January 19, and he will participate in the Traders’ Convention on January 20.

Earlier on Thursday, the FBR Acting Chairperson Nausheen Amjad, the Member IR Policy Hamid Ateeq Sarwar and the Director General Retail Hameed Memon met with traders’ representatives including Kashif Chaudhry, Naeem Mir and Ajmal Baloch to review the progress on the agreement towards implementing the CNIC condition on sale and purchase of goods from February 1, 2020.
