ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that there is a dire need to speed up efforts to create awareness among the public regarding polio (polio in Pakistan).
While presiding over a meeting of national task force on polio eradication in Islamabad on Friday, the prime minister said that polio eradication is a national cause and every effort would be made to make Pakistan a polio-free Country.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Health Amir Mehmood Kiani, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz Hafez-ur-Rehman, Lt. General Muhammad Afzal, Chief Secretaries of the provinces, representatives of the polio partner agencies and senior officials.
The meeting was briefed about the current status and the efforts afoot to completely eradicate polio from the Country. The chief ministers briefed the meeting about the efforts being made by the provincial governments.
Pak army committed to provide security during polio eradication campaign
The prime minister stressed upon the need for greater efforts to sensitize public about the devastating effects of the crippling disease especially for the future of the Country i.e. the children of Pakistan.
Imran Khan reiterated the commitment of the federal and provincial governments towards polio eradication. He said that the federation will provide every possible facilities and assistance in this regard.
Imran Khan said that all the Chief Ministers would continue to spearhead campaign against polio eradication in their provinces and the federal government would continue to provide every possible support them.
In addition, the prime minister thanked international partners for their support towards this important cause. He also said that Pakistan army is committed to provide security and enabling environment for the success of the polio eradication campaign.
