KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has invited all political parties to give their input to restore peace and tranquility in Karachi.

Talking to leaders of political parties at a consultative session in Karachi on Tuesday‚ he said law and order and economic development were deeply inter-linked as without peaceful atmosphere there will be no investment and without necessary resources we cannot tackle the challenge of security.

The Prime Minister said he has come to Karachi with open mind as he has no political favourite and would listen to everyone who will talk about interests of the country. He said the country belongs to us and our future generations and we must work together to establish peace in Karachi.

The PM Nawaz said the country was facing challenges in the realm of economy‚ energy‚ law and order and terrorism and we have to find an answer together.

He reiterated that the government will respect mandate of every party and the federal government would extend fullest possible cooperation to governments of other parties in the provinces in the interest of the provinces and the country. He said we made mistakes in the past and learnt from them and we have to move forward carefully. He said it augurs well that the change of government has taken place through ballot.

The Prime Minister pointed out that different proposals are being floated by different circles for addressing the challenge in Karachi including handing over of the city to the Army‚ to the Rangers and target operation. He said we cannot afford politicking on security and law and order as peace is imperative for progress and development of the country.

Earlier‚ Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah separately called on Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif in Karachi today.

Law and order situation in Karachi and other issues concerning the province came under discussion.

Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid were present on the occasion.
