MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Rawalakot on Monday to visit the areas hit by recent rains and floods in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
On his arrival, the prime minister was given a detailed briefing on the flood situation in the AJK, and was informed that heavy rains have severely damaged basic infrastructure and houses. He was informed that roads and bridges have been damaged by land-sliding in different areas.
Sharif was informed that rains and floods have killed 64 people and injured 109 in different areas of Azad Kashmir. Likewise, he was informed that 24,000 people have been displaced by the floods.
Moreover, the prime minister was told that the affected families are being provided with food, tents and other essential commodities. The electricity has been restored in the affected areas.
