The 44-year-old Labour Party leader Chris Hipkins was sworn in Wednesday as New Zealand’s 41st Prime Minister.
Hipkins was the only nominee to replace the former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who announced her resignation three days earlier.
Under Jacinda Ardern, Hapkins served as the Education and Police Minister.
The term of Jacinda Ardern as the Prime Minister would end on February 7, 2023 and she has announced that she will not contest general elections scheduled for October 14.
