ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has departed for Kazakhstan to participate in the 6th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

In his statement prior to leaving for Kazakhstan, the prime minister said that “I believe CICA is capable of shaping a new configuration of economic cooperation & security in Asia through greater connectivity.”
The prime minister said that as the world faces the prospect of a recession fueled by increase in the energy and food prices, there is a greater need to promote engagement and understanding to form win-win partnerships.
“Climate induced disasters call for synergized efforts for mutually beneficial outcomes,” he wrote on Twitter.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is accompanied by members of the Cabinet and Senior Officials. He will address the plenary meeting of CICA on October 13, 2022.
In his address to the CICA, the prime minister will highlight the significance of this unique forum for promotion of dialogue, harmony and cooperation amongst the Asian countries to cope with common challenges.
Shahbaz Sharif will also present Pakistan’s point of view on different regional and international issues.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the prime minister will also hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of various CICA Member States aimed at fostering greater cooperation, particularly in the fields of trade, investment and energy.
