ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will represent Pakistan at the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in London on September 19, 2022.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the prime minister will attend the State Funeral of Her Majesty at the invitation of the British government.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has left for the United States via London to participate in the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly beginning from September 20.
Queen Elizabeth II, the Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, died on September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland at the age of 96.
She ascended the throne of UK following the death of her father King George VI on February 06, 1952.
Following the death of Her Majesty, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the British High Commission on September 10 to offer his condolences.
In his remarks at the condolatory book, the prime minister wrote that the Queen represented continuity, stability and predictability in the face of monumental changes for the UK and Commonwealth nations.

Last Monday, as per the recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and approved by Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan also observed a day of national mourning on the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Now Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest son 73-year-old Charles Philip Arthur George has finally ascended the throne of United Kingdom as King Charles III.
