KARACHI: Police and Rangers conducted a joint search operation and arrested several suspects, including  Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Awami National Party (ANP) activists in different parts of the city last night.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) City Tariq Dharijo, several suspects were arrested during raids in Kharadar and Meethadar areas. He said that drugs and arms were also seized during the raids.

The operation was conducted in Usmanabad area of Garden, Shah Latif Town and Landhi.

Strong criticism from the MQM and the ANP was witnessed after their workers were arrested.

MQM leader Wasay Jalil said that two unit incharges and a joint unit incharge were arrested.

The ANP also condemned the police raids and claimed that its workers and office bearers were apprehended during raids in Quaidabad and other areas of the metropolis.

Bashir Jan said that the ANP cannot remain silent over the police action.
