KARACHI, Pakistan: At least two policemen were killed while 17 others sustained injuries when a bomb targeted their bus in Quaidabad area of Karachi on Friday.
Meanwhile, the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibly for the attack.
Talking to media, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Quaidabad police station said that the incident took place near Murghi Khana Bus Stop in Quaidabad area where a bus carrying 53 personnel of the Sindh Police’s Special Security Unit was hit by a bomb.
The Karachi police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo told media that the bomb was planted on a motorbike and it was remotely detonated when the police van was passing through the area. He said that the Special Service Unit was on its way to guard Bilawal House in Clifton.
The policemen martyred in Quiadabad blast were identified as Chandar Singh and Saddam while those injured in the incident also included two civilians.
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) personnel said that five kilograms of explosive material were used in the blast.
The DIG East Munir Shaikh said that four suspects were held from the National Highway after Quiadabad blast.
