Polling begins across South Africa

CAPE TOWN: Polling begins across South Africa. The polling is being held on Wednesday in South Africa for the fifth democratic general elections since the end of apartheid in 1994.

It is expected that the governing African National Congress (ANC) and its leader incumbent President Jacob Zuma will secure a victory with a smaller majority despite corruption allegations.

There are 25.39 million registered voters who will cast ballots at 22,263 polling stations across the country.

Tens of thousands of police officers backed by the military in some hotspots will be deployed to secure the polls.
