ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The opposition leader in the Senate and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has said that the PPP was not considering any proposal regarding mid-term elections.
Talking to media persons in Islamabad on Wednesday, Aitzaz Ahsan said that the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah was a man of principles and he did not call for holding mid-term polls.
The PPP senior leader said that no one can force Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign and the PPP will oppose any such move.
Moreover, he said that the protestors’ demand for dissolution of the parliament was unacceptable.
On Tuesday, the opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah while talking to media recommended holding of mid-term elections to resolve prevailing political crisis.
Khursheed Shah stated that it would be better for the system if the prime minister announced mid-term polls.
The opposition leader said that it was not appropriate to force the premier on ‘going point’ to take this action. We wanted survival of the system and parliament, he added.
