RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to become party in the Benazir Bhutto murder case, over five years after the party leader was killed in a gun and suicide bomb attack after an election rally in Rawalpindi.
Sardar Latif Khosa, the PPP Secretary General, has filed an application with the special court and asked for documents pertaining to previous proceedings in the murder case of the former prime minister.
On August 20, an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi indicted former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and six others in the said case.
Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a gun-and-bomb attack outside Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh on December 27, 2007 while Musharraf was president. She was killed after addressing an election campaign rally in the city.
The government of Pervez Musharraf had blamed her assassination on the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
