ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to reconsider its decision to take part in presidential elections.

“Imran Khan should hit a last-ball six and boycott the presidential polls,” PPP Chairman Amin Fahim said, while speaking to media persons after attending a meeting of PPP’s parliamentary party.

Fahim was of the view that presidential polls were advanced to facilitate Nawaz Sharif who was to fly to Saudi Arabia.

Although PPP would attend the joint sitting of National Assembly and Senate, it would completely boycott the proceedings wearing black armband, he announced.

Senior PPP leader Raza Rabbani said that the Election Commission was empowered, but it gave up its authority by inviting the judiciary. “How can a powerless ECP hold free and fair elections?” he questioned.
