ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday said Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wanted that a neutral person be appointed as the interim prime minister.
Talking to media, Khursheed Shah said he hadn’t held consultation with the party’s leadership yet regarding the appointment of the caretaker prime minister. He said the consultation would be held within the party in the presence of the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
In reply to a question, the Opposition Leader said they were endeavoring to appoint a neutral interim prime minister without having any affliction with any political party. He said though every person in Pakistan had an affiliation with any political party but there was a difference between a party official and a person affiliated with a party.
Khursheed Shah said it would be better if a party official not appointed as the interim prime minister. He said he would endeavor to get a person having acquired executive experience in administrative work appointed as the prime minister till the next general elections. He said a well-known and experienced person would be given preference.
The PPP leader expressed hope that he and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi would reach a consensus on the name of the interim premier. In addition, he also wished to see next general elections in the Country soon.
