KARACHI, Pakistan: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Agha Siraj Khan Durrani has been re-elected as 13th Speaker of the Sindh Assembly for another five years by receiving 96 votes.
His rival Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Javed Hanif backed by allies including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as well bagged 59 votes in the elected held on Wednesday through secret balloting.
As many as 158 lawmakers in the House participated in the secret voting process.
The Presiding Officer Nadir Magsi later administered the Oath to Agha Siraj Durrani, who won the election 2018 from PS-9.
It is worth mentioning here that Agha Siraj Durrani’s father Agha Sadaruddin and uncle Agha Badruddin also served as Speakers of the Sindh Assembly.

Similarly, PPP’s Rehana Leghari was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly with 98 votes whereas Opposition’s Rabia Azfar Nizami received 59 votes.
