ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday stressed the need for an education system with right direction so as to prepare the new generation effectively address the challenges of contemporary world.

“Responsible nations take a mindful and refined approach in upbringing of their children, and guide them towards the right direction,” the President said in his address at the 31st award-distribution ceremony of Federal Board of Education and Secondary Education (FBISE), here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

President Mamnoon said it was the joint responsibility of the State, teachers and parents to devise an educational system in line with the national objectives.

He said the element of character-building, if combined with traditional education, could bring positive results and would save the children from falling into despondency.

He called upon the educational boards to keep giving their feedback to concerned ministries and departments for necessary amendments in the syllabus in accordance with the changing times.

He also suggested to add chapters about Muslim rulers of the sub-continent to apprise the new generation of their history.

President Mamnoon said the nations with strong political and economic foothold achieve progress, adding that Pakistan was making headway in both these fields.

He said Pakistan in collaboration with its friendly neighbour China was working on building an economic corridor and termed the 46 billion US dollars project a “fate-changer for the entire region”.

“This economic corridor is closely related to the future of our nation,” he said.

Mamnoon Hussain said the project would require experts and professional for its operationalization and called upon the youth to get education in the related fields.

The President said higher education was important in attaining progress in life, and encouraged the girl students to achieve maximum education.

“Unless the girls join the national workforce, the journey of success will remain incomplete,” he said, however asked the girl students to never forget their national traditions and Islamic values in pursuance of their educational goals.

The President congratulated the position-holder students and asked them to be always be respectful to their parents and teachers, to whom they owed their success.

Speaking on the occasion about the performance of the Board, Minister of State for Education Engineer Balighur Rehman said the FBISE, working since 1975, was the only ISO-certified board of the country.

He said FBISE had been made computerized that provided one-window facility and issued roll number slips through internet without any hassle.

He also mentioned that a project of Rs 50 million had been launched for training of personnel responsible for holding of examinations.

Chairman FBISE Dr. Ikram Ali Malik in his welcome address highlighted the working of the FBISE.

Earlier, President Mamnoon conferred medals on the distinguished students.
