WUZHEN, CHINA: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday arrived here to represent Pakistan at the 2nd World Internet Conference being held at the historic Wuzhen town of Hangzhou in China’s Zhejiang province from December 16 to 18.
The President, who is accompanied by First Lady Begum Mehmooda Mamnoon, was received at the Hangzhou airport by Vice Governor of Zhejiang province Lian Lining, senior officials of government of China and Pakistan Embassy.
On the sidelines of the World Internet Conference, President will also hold bilateral meeting with the Chinese President, Xi Jinping to discuss issues of common interest.
President Xi Jinping will deliver a key note address at opening ceremony of the conference.
World Internet Conference is a joint venture of the Cyberspace Administration of China and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province, Peoples Republic of China.
The purpose of the conference is to serve as a platform for building a cyberspace community of shared destiny, advocate worldwide respect for diversity and to forge consensus and confronting risks to cyber security jointly.
Pakistan’s participation in the Conference will help the country address its cyber security issues and enhance cooperation for beneficial use of internet technology.
Pakistan Ambassador to China Masood Khalid in a statement said Pakistan’s highest level participation in the Wuzhen Summit was a reflection of Pak-China growing strategic, economic and political convergence of interests.
“With CPEC on a fast track of implementation, our relationship is gaining newer heights. As next year marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries, I am confident that the upward momentum of our bilateral strategic partnership will continue to grow in the coming years,” he added.
