ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari will address the joint sitting of the parliament for the record sixth time at the parliament house in Islamabad this afternoon.

It will be the first joint session of new Parliament after smooth transfer of power from one elected government to the new elected government.

In his address‚ the President will give guidelines to the newly elected government on the confronting issues‚ besides appreciating the role played by all the political parties for the strengthening of democratic process in the country.

He will also speak on the internal issues including law and order‚ war on terror‚ economic growth and will give advice to the government to tackle these issues and provide relief to the common man.

The president will also highlight Pakistan’s foreign policy on regional issues including Afghanistan and its relations with neighbors particularly India and Afghanistan besides Pakistan’s relations with the international community.

According to constitutional provisions‚ the President has to address a joint session of Parliament at the start of every parliamentary year.
