ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the Ehsaas Riayat Rashan Program at a Ceremony held in Islamabad on Monday.
Under the prime minister’s vision of poverty alleviation, 30 percent monthly subsidy will be provided to 20 million families on daily use items.
The targeted subsidy program will effectively lower the price of essential commodities like wheat flour, cooking oil, ghee and pulses.
Under the program, Rs 106 billion will be spent on the provision of subsidies to 20 million eligible families.
The Kafaalat Cash Assistance Program worth Rs 71 billion will also be started under the Ehsaas Kafalat Scheme.

While speaking at the Inauguration Ceremony of the Ehsaas Riayat Rashan Program, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that it is aimed at reducing the burden of inflation on the weak segments.
The prime minister reiterated the commitment to make Pakistan a truly welfare state on the pattern of State of Madina. He assured to uplift and extend more support to the deprived segments of the society with increase in tax collection.
Imran Khan said that price hike is an international phenomenon. However, he added, that Pakistan is still ranked amongst one of the cheapest Countries in the world. He said that prices of petrol and diesel in Pakistan are lower when compared with Dubai and other countries of the sub-continent.
