ISLAMABAD: The government has filed its answer in high treason case against Gen (ret) Pervez Musharraf under Article 6 of the constitution and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken National Assembly into confidence on Monday.
“The November 3, 2007 action of abrogating the constitution is treason. The Attorney General is going to file the government stand in the Supreme Court today and therefore I decided to take the parliament into confidence in this regard,” Nawaz told the house.
He said that Musharraf’s actions came under the purview of high treason and he should face trial and answer his guilt before the court. “Attorney General of Pakistan is filing the government’s stand in this regard in the Supreme Court,” Sharif added.
The PM assured the court and people of Pakistan that every judgement of the judiciary will be respected and implemented. The Prime Minister said the government will also take into confidence all the political forces on the issue to reflect the will of the people in its decisions.
