ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf has directed the security forces to carry out target operations in Quetta, three days after the deadly bombing that claimed 90 lives of Hazara Shia community at Quetta’s Kirani Road, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Tuesday.
In a recent development, the Prime Minister has also ordered the transfer of IG Balochistan Tariq Omar Khatab for his failure to maintain law and order in the province. The PM has appointed Mushtaq Sukhera as news IG Balochistan.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s spokesperson, it was said that Prime Minister ordered for the initiation of targeted operations in Quetta adding that those responsible for the Quetta carnage should be targeted.
The statement said that immediate action should be taken in those areas where information indicates presence of terrorist elements and that security forces should conduct targeted operations.
The spokesman further said that the prime minister would personally supervise the Quetta operation.
On Saturday, at least 90 people were killed in a bomb blast at a busy market in Quetta, most of them belonging to the Hazara Shia community. Banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi had claimed responsibility for the blast.
