Privatization commission approves privatization of three state-owned entities including PIA

ISLAMABAD: The Privatization Commission on Wednesday approved the privatization of three state-owned entities including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the Heavy Electrical Complex (HEC) and the National Power Construction Company (NPCC).

A meeting of the board of directors of the privatization commission was held in Islamabad on Wednesday with Muhammad Zubair as the chairman of Privatization Commission/Minister of State for Privatization in the chair.

During the meeting, the commission decided that the HEC, the NPCC and 26 percent of the PIA shares along with the management control of the national carrier will be privatized.

An economic advisor will be appointed for the privatization of the PIA in March this year.

The decision of the Privatization Commission will be presented before the parliament for final approval.
