ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has appointed Professor Dr. Hassan Raza and Professor Dr. Irshad Ahmad Arshad as the Deans of the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities and the Faculty of Sciences at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) respectively.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is the Chancellor of the AIOU by the virtue of an AIOU Act. These appointments were notified by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.
Professor Dr. Hassan Raza and Professor Dr. Irshad Ahmad Arshad have been serving as the Chairman Departments of Business Administration and Statistics respectively for a significant time period.
The University academia in general while the Academic Staff Association (ASA) in particular commended the Vice-Chancellor AIOU Professor Dr. Zia Ul Qayyum for the appointment of senior-most professors of the faculties.
The newly appointed deans have expressed their firm resolve to strive for the betterment of this prestigious national institution.
Professor Dr. Zia Ul Qayyum congratulated the newly appointed deans and expressed his hope that their respective faculties would work hard to improve the overall performance of the University while specifically focusing on curriculum revision to bring it at par with the international standards.
