ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: With an aim to boost country’s tourist industry, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is planning to construct tourist resorts at Naltar Valley, Mansehra, Haripur and Tarbela.
An official of PTDC told that the new tourist resorts would help increase tourism flow in the country.
He said the PTDC’s initiative to introduce ‘Pakistan Tourism Friends Club’ for the promotion of tourism had been received warmly, adding that at present around 3,000 people had got themselves enrolled to enjoy the announced facilities.
He said objective of introducing the club was to promote tourism activities and provide better tourist facilities at affordable rates to members.
He said the PTDC had singed MoUs with University of Management and Technology and King Edward Medical College for joint promotion of tourism in the country.
MoU has also been signed with Northern Areas Transport Corporation for promotion of tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan.
To a question, he said the corporation was organizing handicraft bazaar at its main motels across the country. Tourist Facilitation Centres in Islamabad, Gilgit, Karachi and Nankana Sahib have been established at a cost of Rs. 103.754 million, he added.
To another question, he said PTDC had recently launched a new website, www.ptdcmotel.com, for online booking of hotels and motels, adding that people had started to contact PTDC hotels and motels for advance booking of rooms to avoid rush.
“Public response has been encouraging. Most of the people are approaching PTDC for booking rooms in Naran, Saidu Sharif, Kalam and Miandam,” he said.
He said that PTDC had also started working on Ramadan package, as this year the holy month and the season were coinciding.
