ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister of Energy (Power Division) Omar Ayub Khan has emphatically said that the revenue target of Rs 5.5 trillion set for the next fiscal year will be achieved by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government.

While making an opening speech in the National Assembly on Wednesday on the budget from treasury benches, Omer Ayub said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in their 10-year rule indebted the Country of Rs 24,000 billion. He said that we have paid Rs 3,000 billion this year only as an interest on the loans taken in the past.

Criticizing the economic performance of the PML-N and PPP governments, the power minister sadist that the exports remained stagnant during their period and nothing was done by them to stabilize the economy.

Omer Ayub said that unlike the past, the present government is bringing improvement in the system. He said that it is because of the prayers of the people that an honest leadership is governing and transforming the Country.

The minister expressed the confidence that the power sector will receive massive investment in the coming days. He said that our target is to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy mix to 20 percent by 2025. He said that by 2030, our target is produce 70 to 75 percent power from indigenous resources.

Omar Ayub Khan said that the previous government installed coal power plants at wrong points which affected our agriculture sector.
