ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Talal Chaudhry has said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) itself was not sincere in investigations on Panama Papers as they wanted to get political mileage on the issue.
Talking to private television channel, he said PTI Chief Imran Khan was trying to linger the issue of Panama Papers till General Elections 2018 and get public support from it as they had had no other issue to go in the elections.
Responding to the speech of Imran Khan, he said the speech was ill-time as Indian government was showing aggression against Pakistan, adding it was imperative to get united for a befitting response.
He said PTI should have postponed their protest movement against the government for time being and show unity against the Indian aggressive statements.
Talal said that Imran Khan had filed petitions against the Prime Minister in the Supreme Court, Election Commission and the National Assembly so he should show some patience and wait for decisions from these institutions.
He said PTI even did not wait for the outcome of Terms of Reference (ToR) and came on roads that showed their non-serious attitude.
Talal said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had announced to form commission for investigation into Panama Papers soon after it were revealed but the opposition rejected the commission.
Later the government wrote to the Supreme Court for Judicial Commission on the demand of the opposition, he said adding the government also constituted a ToR committee with consensus to resolve the issue.
The MNA said the government sincerely worked to formulate ToR but the opposition insisted for their own ToR.
He said the government had also presented a bill in the Parliament to strengthen investigation process and the bill was comprehensive if compared to the bill of the opposition.
Talal said, Imran Khan had been threatening the government from last two years however the government was not afraid as the support of people was with the PML-N.
